The acclaimed production returns in 2027. Featuring footage from our original 2022 production, with Feste’s introduction to The Last Dream of Illyria. Subtitles included.
A ship. A dream. A world turned upside down.
May 1915. In the final hours of the Lusitania’s voyage to Liverpool, the familiar world gives way to Illyria: a place between life and death, assembled from memory, wreckage and possibility.
Here, women hold rank, property and political power, while men are expected to marry well. Shakespeare’s courtships and disguises take on new meaning in a comic, romantic world where identity and desire refuse to stay still.
Newly developed from Dionysus’s 2022 production, this touring remount combines ensemble performance, movement, music, sound and visible theatrical transformation. Adapted by Robert Tremayne.
